My Top 3 Habits for Personal Growth

My Top 3 Habits for Personal Growth

With this Blog Post, I‘m going to share my top 3 habits for personal growth. We’re going to talk about the habits themselves, why they are important, and how you can develop and implement them into your life.

 1. Meditation

I’m going to say this again and again:

Meditation is your best friend.

Or – it can be, if you let it. Meditating is an amazing exercise for your mind, and the more you do it, the better you’ll become.

The amazing thing about a regular meditation practice is that you can do dozens and dozens of different meditations. We’re different every day, and every mindset demands a different approach. With a little bit of practice, you’re going to learn to listen to your inner voice telling you what it is you need on that specific day.

Meditation might be – in my experience – the biggest fuel and most important habit for your inner growth. It connects you to your inner voice like noting else. With meditation you can work through inner blocks, heal old trauma, release stress, practice gratitude, and so much more.

In previous Blog Posts I shared a guide on how to start meditating (read here), my all time favorite Gratitude-Meditation (read here), a soothing Self-Love Meditation (read here), and a Relationship-Meditation (read here).

 2. Journaling

Journaling is amazing and, after meditation, my second favorite tool for personal growth.

Mhmm, but what should I write?

You don’t have to write your memoirs.

That’s the amazing thing. You can write about anything! You can write about whatever happened yesterday, you can write a Gratitude-List, you can write about your goals, fears, and everything in between. You can also just rant. There are no boundaries to your creativity.

Ultimately, what journaling does is to help you get in touch with your emotions. And that’s all we really want.

We want to be in touch with our emotions, for we can only work with what we understand.

 3. A Healthy Morning Routine

The mindset you develop in the morning will set the entire tune for your day. It really works that way.

Your energy creates your reality - and your mornings make your day.

Do not underestimate the power of following a healthy morning routine. Take some time to reflect: What does your morning usually look like? Do you use the morning hours to treat yourself with some self-care or soothing rituals? Or is the first thing after waking up to open your social media and spin into a negative spiral of self-comparison and self-depreciating thoughts?

It all boils down to the question:

How well do you use your time?

Okay, so the morning and what we do with it is important and all that. We kinda knew that anyways. But now to the juicy stuff.

What could a healthy morning routine entail?

In my experience there’s the following rule of thumb:

Everything that includes nurturing your body and mind is a thumbs-up.

That could be:

  • Doing a morning meditation
  • Yoga
  • Any other sports
  • Journaling
  • Playing with your kids, cats, dogs (insert what applies to you)
  • Reading an educating, uplifting, or entertaining book
  • Listening to your favorite Podcast

Now let’s talk about possible thumb-downs. I’m saying “possible” because we’re all different human beings and as I sit here, writing my Blog, I’m writing about personal experience and opinions, of course.

We already broached the topic of Screentime and Social Media, but let’s take a deeper look.

Nowadays, it’s scientifically proven that social media can seriously affect our mental health. This doesn’t mean that it is bad, and that we shouldn’t use it. It means that we should use it consciously. With intention.

If you feel that your energy is lower after you’ve been scrolling for a while, maybe don’t do it first thing in the morning. And maybe set yourself a timer, since you’re already at it.

It really comes down to how conscious we are of the world around us, how it affects us, and how we respond.

Meditation, journaling, and following a healthy morning routine are by far my top 3 habits for personal growth.

Here’s my pro tip: You can combine all of them!

By combining all three habits you are creating the ultimate power routine to start your day. Enjoy!
